Empowering Latino medical students to become exceptional healthcare professionals
The Latino Medical Student Association (LMSA) + UH is dedicated to supporting and empowering Latino medical students throughout their academic journey. We strive to create an inclusive community that promotes academic excellence, professional development, and cultural awareness in healthcare.
Our organization serves as a vital resource for Latino students pursuing careers in medicine, providing mentorship, networking opportunities, and advocacy for increased Latino representation in healthcare professions.
We provide study resources, MCAT preparation assistance, and academic workshops to help our members excel in their pre-medical and medical studies. Our peer mentorship program connects students with experienced mentors who can guide them through their academic journey.
Through networking events, clinical shadowing opportunities, and professional workshops, we help members develop the skills and connections necessary for a successful career in medicine. We also organize conferences and seminars featuring Latino healthcare professionals.
We are committed to serving the Latino community through health fairs, educational outreach programs, and volunteer opportunities. These activities allow our members to gain hands-on experience while making a positive impact in our community.
LMSA promotes cultural competency in healthcare and advocates for increased diversity in medical education. We organize cultural events and discussions that highlight the importance of understanding and addressing the unique healthcare needs of the Latino community.
Whether you're a pre-medical student, current medical student, or supporter of our mission, LMSA at UH welcomes you to join our community. Together, we can work towards increasing Latino representation in healthcare and improving health outcomes in our communities.
